Oral Communication implements active learning and focuses on communicating in English by using a lot of interactions between students through practical dialogues. It provides topics where students can share their ideas and experiences as well as build their confidence in terms of conversation, listening, reading, and writing in English.

At the end of every lecture, the students will be able to: 1. speak English using practical dialogues in daily life activities 2. develop listening skills through targeted tasks and visual cues 3. interact with other students following English language models 4. use correct English grammar in speaking and in writing 5. develop reading skills 6. promote personalized writing

Through active learning Oral Communication lectures presents a range of topics such as introducing self, family and favorite things, school life activities and past experiences in school, sports and leisure activities, money, shopping and time; describing food, travel, movies, career plans, health and healthy lifestyle, music and books, and the environment.

Oral Communication lectures are prepared by practicing communication topics, dialogues, and activities from various English Communication books for every class session. To evaluate students, communication tasks to enable students to express their creative thoughts and feelings on a particular topic.

Example of Student Task from the Lecture a. Speaking: Students follow the language model from the textbook and interact with other peers in English. b. Listening: Students answer questions from what they hear. c. Reading: Students read on various topics. d. Writing: Students write on topics given and create their own topic content.

Students will be given homework on every topic being discussed to recall, comprehend, and practice fluency especially in English vocabulary.

1. do not sleep and eat during the lecture 2. do not talk/converse with your seatmate when others are reciting/speaking in class. 3. greet the teacher before and after class, e.g. when the teacher says, “Good Morning Class” and “Goodbye Class.” 4. Try to speak English all throughout the whole 90 minutes of Oral Communication class.

Attendance and punctuality should be observed all throughout the 16 weeks of classes. a. students should attend the class from the beginning of the semester until the end of the semester. b. in case of illness, a student will be excused from being absent if the student presents a medical certificate or an excuse letter signed by the parent/guardian or the head of the Department of Global Studies. c. For each absence 2 points from the total 20 points are deducted. If a student is late for three classes, 2 points are deducted in line with faculty policy.
