Building on the skills learned in English Tutorial I, this course is designed to give students the opportunity to use English to make presentations, and develop their English speaking and listening skills on a variety of topics related to global cultures and students' daily lives Students who successfully complete this course will: 1. Have developed the skills and language ability to discuss various aspects of culture and life in English 2. Gained confidence in their ability to use English as a lingua franca. 3. Improved in their fluency and accuracy when speaking in English

Each class meetings will provide students with opportunities to discuss familiar and a few less than common aspects of Japanese culture in English.
|
Students should complete the assigned reading and exercises before each class meeting.
|
Class time will be devoted to numerous group and individual activities. Students should be prepared to speak, listen, read, and write in English in all class meetings.
|
Students should review the course materials following each class. Students may find keeping a diary with vocabulary and their reaction to each week's class to be useful.
|
Students are expected to actively participate in all class meetings. It is possible to attend all class meetings and still fail this course.

予習・復習 |
We will follow the textbook in this class. Students will need to do research on the internet or in the library to learn about foreign cultures to complete course activities.

Active Participation: 25% Learning and developing skills in English requires students to speak, listen, read and write in all class meetings. Textbook Assignments 25% Completing weekly assignments is necessary for active participation, expanding vocabulary and developing fluency. Midterm Activity: 15% Final Activity: 15% Comprehensive midterm and final activities are a way for students to measure their abilities in accordance with goals one and three. 3 Image Introduction: 10% Weekly Vocabulary Quizzes: 10% Weekly quizzes help students build functional vocabulary and contribute to facility and fluency.

受講に際して、心配や不安なことがある場合には、必ず2回目の授業までに担当者に相談して下さい。事情によっては、何らかの特別な配慮を行う場合があります。そ の他、毎回の授業の予習・復習に関して、疑問や問題がある場合は、必ず担当教員に相談すること(授業の前後やオフィス・アワーを利用する)。また、演習を欠席す る場合は必ず事前に申し出ること。無断欠席をした場合は履修放棄とみなします。
