The goals of Oral English III are to: (1) help students develop their English language speaking abilities and (2) help students acquire confidence when speaking and listening to English. To meet these goals students will be given multiple opportunities to practice speaking English at all class meetings.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will: 1. Improve in their abilities to use spoken English to complete a variety of practical tasks. 2. Increased in their ability to comprehend spoken English. 3. Work with their peers to accomplish tasks in English.

Students will complete a variety of activities and exercises related to the textbook and accompanying audio files in order to improve their English speaking skills.

Students should prepare for the each class meeting by: reviewing previous lessons, completing assignments in a timely manner, and regularly practicing the dialogues in the text.

Students should attend all class meetings. This class will utilize active learning and cooperative learning. Missing even a single class can be detrimental to students' progress in this class.

Students should review the main points covered in the textbook.

Students should actively participate in all class meetings. It is possible to attend every class and receive a failing grade for this course. Students challenging grades earned on class work or their final grade should be aware that it is possible to receive a lower grade after review. Students are expected to do their own work. Penalties for academic dishonesty will range from failing an assignment or the course.

予習・復習 |
Contents of each lecture will be based on the textbook. Additional activities and materials related to the textbook will also be provided. At the end of each lesson, students will submit a short assessment of the days activities. Students will receive both written and oral feedback on all assignments.

Reading/Vocabulary Quizzes: 20% Weekly quizzes help students build functional vocabulary and contribute to facility and fluency. Active Participation (Textbook Work, Class Discussions) 10% Learning a language depends on the active participation of all course members. Coming to class unprepared or not participating negatively impacts all course members' progress. Unit Presentations (7) 50% Opportunity for students to discuss each unit's topic in-depth. Midterm and Final Activity: 20% Comprehensive midterm and final activities are a way for students to measure their abilities in accordance with goals one and three.
