2.授業の目的
(1)授業の目的
Oral English implements active learning. It enables students to communicate in English orally by using a lot of interactions between students through practical dialogues.  It provides personalized tasks where students can share their ideas and experiences, and helps them build confidence in terms of conversation, listening, reading, and writing in English.

At the end of every lecture, the students will be able to:
1. speak English using practical dialogues in daily life activities
2. develop listening skills through targeted tasks and visual cues
3. interact with other students following English language models
4. use correct English grammar in speaking and in writing

3.授業の概要
Oral English lectures will start with introduction of self in class and meeting other students
in class.  Units 1 – 6 will be discussed in class from week 2 to week 15 with various topics.  

4.授業の受け方・勉強の仕方
(1)予習の仕方
Oral English lectures are prepared by following the required textbook, English First Hand 1 with a CD for the listening part.
To evaluate students, quizzes will be given after every topic with mostly essay questions to develop writing skills and to enable students to express their thoughts and feelings on a particular topic.
(2)授業の受け方
Example of Student Task from the Lecture
a. Speaking
Students follow the language model from the textbook.
b.   Listening
Students listen to the CD and answer questions from what they hear.
c. Reading
Students read short stories from the textbook and answer questions being asked.
d. Writing
Students write essay topics based on the story in the textbook.
(3)復習の仕方
Students will be given homework on every topic being discussed to recall, comprehend, and practice fluency especially in English vocabulary.

5.受講にあたってのルール
Do not talk/converse with your seatmate when others are reciting/speaking in class.
Greet the teacher before and after class, e.g. when the teacher says, “Good Morning Class” and “Goodbye Class.”
Try to speak English as much as possible all throughout the whole 90 minutes of Oral English class.

9.履修上の注意
Attendance and punctuality should be observed all throughout the 15 weeks of classes.
a. Students should attend the class from the beginning of the semester until the end of the semester.
b. In case of illness, a student will be excused from being absent if the student presents a medical certificate or an excuse letter signed by the parent/guardian or the head of the Global Studies Dept.
